Digital surface model

High Speed Rail (Crewe – Manchester) Environmental Statement, Glossary, abbreviations and references, published by the Department for Transport in 2022, defines a digital surface model as: ‘A digital model of the surface of the earth with all objects on it (e.g. trees and buildings).

This is as opposed to a digital elevation model, which is: ‘A digital model of the surface of the earth without any objects on it (e.g. trees and buildings).’
