The disconnect between predicted and real energy usage could be reduced if the design-stage modelled energy budget for a building could be uploaded to the smart building management system of the building. As real time data on utilities consumption, usage patterns and internal and external conditions accumulates it could be mapped onto the design model. Areas of discrepancy could be flagged and interrogated.
