Adjudicator
Roles in construction projects: analysis and terminology, by Hughes, W. and Murdoch, J. R, published in 2001 by the University of Reading, describes an adjudicator as an: ‘Independent third party appointed to give a decision on a dispute arising under a construction contract which will be binding on both parties, at least temporarily (though subject to being set aside at a later date in court or at arbitration). The right to insist on adjudication is contained in the Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act 1996.
