Sound material-cycle society

The Japanese Basic Act for Establishing a Sound Material-Cycle Society, defines a Sound Material-Cycle Society (SMCS) as: ‘…a society in which the consumption of natural resources is conserved and the environmental load is reduced to the greatest extent possible, by preventing or reducing the generation of wastes and by promoting proper cyclical use and disposal of products and materials.’
