Locally important and locally valued
North Ayrshire Local Biodiversity Action Plan, 2019-2031, published by North Ayrshire Council, states in relation to locally important and locally valued: ‘Whilst some species, habitats, ecosystems and their associated conservation issues have been prioritized at a national scale in the Scottish Biodiversity List (SBL), there will be others which are of conservation importance at the local scale. An example would be a species which is not rare across Scotland as a whole, but which is only known to occur at one site in North Ayrshire. Others will be locally valued, meaning that they are of cultural importance to local people.’
