Historic Environment Forum HEF

The Historic Environment Forum (HEF) is an organisation that seeks to bring together thought leaders from the heritage sector. Its purpose is to assess and address strategic issues associated with research, conservation, presentation, enjoyment and use of the historic environment in England.

The organisation, originally known as the Historic Environment Review Executive Committee (HEREC), was founded in 2000 under the auspices of English Heritage following publication of The Power of Place, a statement of the value of the historic environment in England.

There are 21 members of HEF and it is supported by Historic England.
