Our mission is to improve representation across the built environment by enabling and empowering a collaborative movement for inclusive change.
We amplify the voices of the under-represented, empowering a ‘Network of Networks’ of over seventy organisations that have the reach into the people our sector needs.
Our commitment is to reduce fragmentation, avoid duplication and to drive collaboration.

The UK needs to build, but there is a shortage of competent and experienced workers, the workforce lacks diversity and significant cultural change is required.
At Building People we:
- Bring people, needs and organisations together, enabling joined-up connections to drive collaboration and culture change.
- Amplify the voices of the under-represented, empowering a ‘Network of Networks’ that has the reach into the people our sector needs.
- Lobby and participate in industry groups and share our expertise to drive behavioural and cultural change together.

There are many disparate organisations that provide construction and built environment careers support to people from diverse and under-represented groups.
Building People brings these organisations and initiatives together to facilitate discussion, collaboration and change.
We amplify the voices of the under-represented, empowering and promoting this ‘Network of Networks’ that has the reach into the people our sector needs.
This Network is open to all organisations and initiatives that work with under-represented groups to facilitate construction and built environment careers. It is the largest of its kind in the sector and brings together over seventy organisations and initiatives that provide built environment careers support to people from under-represented groups.

[edit] Collaborating
Building People is a founding member of the Construction Leadership Council's Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) steering group.
The Construction Leadership Council’s vision is for an inclusive, representative, welcoming built environment sector that is a career of choice for all as the best way to contribute to a stronger economy and sustainable future.
The role of its EDI steering group is to define a strategic way forward to deliver this vision, with a specific goal of bringing the sector together for a ‘one voice’ approach towards strategic and consolidated action.
