Thematic listing
Towards a Strategy for the National Heritage List for England: A View from the Amenity Sector, written by Matthew Saunders and published by Historic England in 2021, defines thematic listing or strategic listing as: ‘…a listing that has resulted from a themed project, often the result of commissioned research and usually part of the MPP (Monument Protection Programme) or the subsequent Listing Strategic Programme.’
