Brickearth

Geoarchaeology, Using Earth Sciences to Understand the Archaeological Record, published by Historic England in 2015, defines brickearth as: ‘…a functional name (the material was used in the past to make bricks) for silt deposits found in some river valleys. The origin is probably redeposited loess.’
