Treating brickwork with sealant or water repellent
There are a few errors in this article that need to be corrected:
1. You write '.......meaning that any moisture that penetrates through the outer leave runs down the outer face of the cavity and is drained to the outside.'
Surely this should say '.....runs down the inside face of the outer leaf.......'.
Cavities do not have 'faces'.
2. It is 'leaf' not 'leave'.
- Why can't a cavity have a face?
- Both 'leaf' and 'leave' are in common
I have been applying sealers for years. I've sealed houses, commercial buildings, and historic buildings. It makes sense about moisture build up if brick is sealed. However I make sure to make vent holes in areas that do not get rain directly.
