Special landscape qualities

Guidance on designating Local Landscape Areas, published in October 2020 by NatureScot and Historic Environment Scotland, defines special landscape qualities as: ‘The characteristics or features that, individually or combined, give rise to a landscape being considered to be of particular value. For example in NSAs (National Scenic Area's) the Special Qualities are those which give rise to an area’s outstanding scenery.’
