About CPIc
CPIc was the Construction Project Information Committee, responsible for providing best practice guidance on the content, form and preparation of construction production information (CPI), and making sure this best practice was disseminated throughout the UK construction industry.
The Committee was formed from representatives of the major industry institutions which ensured that the guidance provided had a solid foundation within all branches of the industry including:
- The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA)
- The Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)
- The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE)
- Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT)
- The Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE)
- The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB)
- The UK Contractors Group (UKCG)
- Landscape Institute (LI)
CPIc promoted the quality of design information and collaboration in the design process.
CPIc authored and managed the Uniclass2 classification system, which formed a core part of the UK government’s PAS1192:2 document. See Uniclass 2015 for latest information and guidance on classification.
CPIc provided guidance on all aspects of project information management including life cycle costing and sustainability.
The work of CPIc has been recognised by Egan and Latham and members of CPIc were key contributors to BS1192.
