Establishments open to the public ERP
Under Article R. 123-2 of the the Construction and Housing Code CCH (also referred to as the Building and Housing Code, the Code of Construction or Code de la construction et de l'habitation) establishments open to the public (ERPs) are defined as “...all buildings, premises and enclosures in which people are admitted, either freely or in return for remuneration or any participation, or in which meetings are held open to all comers. or by invitation, paid or not. All persons admitted to the establishment in any capacity whatsoever in addition to the staff are considered as part of the public.”
ERPs (also referred to as établissements recevant du public) are classified by five different types (represented by a letter), depending on their activity, and by category, depending on the capacity of the building.
