Leveraging technology to unlock the growth and scalability of capital-intensive industries.

My name is Omar Zhandarbekuly, and I am the founder of Surfaice, a tech startup focused on leveraging AI and automation to streamline construction project management. Our mission is to empower the industry with innovative solutions that enhance efficiency while aligning with sustainable practices—a goal deeply rooted in my personal and professional journey.
With advanced degrees in Civil Engineering from the University of Nottingham and Engineering Management from Duke University, I have cultivated a multidisciplinary understanding of the intersection between technology, construction, and sustainability. This perspective has been shaped by my experience working with pioneering organizations such as Katerra, where I contributed to large-scale modular construction projects, and Rivian, where I supported groundbreaking efforts in sustainable manufacturing and infrastructure development.
My commitment to sustainability has only grown over the years, culminating in my participation as a Fellow with the Clean Energy Leadership Institute (CELI), Cleantech Open and Cleantech Alliance. These fellowships have allowed me to engage with thought leaders and advance actionable strategies to promote clean energy and sustainable practices in the built environment.
