Rose window, St Mary's Church, Cheltenham The window is 14th century with Victorian glazing. It is presumed to commemorate the martyrdom of St Catherine of Alexandria, put to death on a wheel, and remembered every 5th November when 'catherine-wheel' fireworks are set off. One of the leaded panels is apparently fitted the wrong way round. St Mary's Church, Cheltenham Written by Brian Robert Marshall This fine church is tucked away in a quiet corner of Cheltenham's commercial heart. Listed Grade I; parts date to the late 12th century.
