Daylight benefits in healthcare buildings
In this article you talk about the benefit of natural light in the post-operative period, but I strongly favor natural light through large panes on the walls of the operating room itself.
I am in the process of building a new OR on the 4th floor of a building facing a lake, and love the idea of having big windows (fixed glass panels) allowing sunlight and lovely exterior view. And yet in many OR design guidelines you find it should be "windowless". Advantages of the large glass panel: ambiental light helps fight infections, and it is good for the psychological wellbeing of the staff and patients (eliminating the claustrophobic usual OR environment). What do you think of this? Any modern guideline supporting this? (havenĀ“t been able to find one on the web). (I am a cancer surgeon)
