AluK collaborated with a range of partners for a high-profile development in central London. The West End Gate development will comprise more than 700 luxury apartments and penthouses.

The AluK team worked with key stakeholders and project partners during the design process to come up with a customised façade design for developer Berkeley Homes. The key stakeholders included architect Squire and Partners, façade consultant Cladtech and structural engineering firm WSP.

The West End Gate development is one of tallest buildings under construction in central London, standing at 29-storeys. AluK’s team designed a [https://in.aluk.com/en/products/curtain-walls/aw86 AW86 unitised curtain] [https://in.aluk.com/en/products/curtain-walls/aw86 wall] in excess of 14,000m² to envelop the tower. Additionally, 241 2-pane, single track lift and slide [https://in.aluk.com/en/products/sliding-doors/sc156 SC156 sliding doors], 750 concealed vents and 58 of the 77ID swing doors will also be utilised for this project.

The thermal requirements for this building, 0.95W/M2k as a weighted average, were carefully considered during the design process to meet the needs of the client. Finally, RW43+ CTR acoustic glass will be used to minimise traffic noise inside each apartment.

The West End Gate development has an expected completion date of summer 2020.
