New page

In British English a tied relates to good or service that are given but subject to certain conditions. In relation to buildings tieds might be attached to accomodation for example tied cottages, whereby workers, often agricultural workers are able to live whilst they are working for the landowner or a tied public house, whereby a landlord may reside in the pub so long as they are working for the brewery, or supplying goods from the brewery which owns the accomodation. The term may also be used in terms of loans or aid donations, which may be given on the condition that it is spend on specific goods or services that the donor supplies, for example a tied donation of 10k from a brick company may have a condition that the money is spent on bricks from that company rather than another.
