The Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB part of BRE Global) sets the standards needed to ensure that fire and security products and services perform effectively. LPCB’s Loss Prevention Standards (LPS) are applied in fire and security sectors around the world.

The [https://www.redbooklive.com/download/pdf/LPS-2082-Issue-1.0.pdf Loss Prevention Standard (LSP 2082 : Issue 1.0)], published by BRE Global in 2017, defines security risk as: ‘The likelihood that a threat will be realised, together with a measure of the potential consequences associated with the realisation of the threat.’

Security risk management refers to: ‘Activities conducted to direct and control security risk(s).’

And a security risk management system is: ‘ An organised, systematic approach to managing security risks which embeds security into the culture and day-to-day activities at a facility.’
