The review is to be chaired by former Labour housing and planning minister Nick Raynsford, who lead a task force of politicians, housing providers, developers, the public, and so on.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Planning legislation was first relaxed to accommodate housing growth in 2010. Since then, both public and private sector have issued complaints that the heavily deregulated system is unsustainable. Particularly, on the areas of housing and climate change, the current planning system is considered to be failing to meet the health and wellbeing needs of communities.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The review hopes to provide practical and comprehensive policy guidance to tackle these issues, in a way that is mutually beneficial to all stakeholders and doesn’t discourage the production of new homes.&lt;br /&gt;
