−	In September 2018, the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) launched a consultation on a new Plan of Work for Fire Safety. In September 2018, the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) launched a consultation on a new Plan of Work for Fire Safety. This follows on from the institute’s strong recommendation that changes to Building Regulations be introduced following the Grenfell Tower fire in 2017 to strengthen requirements on cladding, sprinklers and means of escape.

The Plan of Work also intends to clarify the responsibilities of those who design, build and manage buildings, by incorporating a ‘best practice process map’ which indicates the deliverables at each lifecycle stage. "I encourage all RIBA members and other industry professionals to provide detailed feedback on this draft document, which we hope will be an important step to further strengthen consideration of fire safety in all aspects of building design, procurement, construction and maintenance.”
