It is a factory-manufactured building system made from thin, cold-formed galvanised steel sections that are designed off-site and assembled on site as panels or volumetric units. “MMC” refers to the UK government’s classification of Modern Methods of Construction, particularly Category 2, which covers panelised systems manufactured off-site.

These sections are cold-formed rather than hot-rolled, giving them high strength-to-weight ratios while remaining relatively easy to handle and transport.
