Landscape planning is based on a set of forward-looking activities. It concerns, inter alia, the reassessment of degraded landscapes, and particularly wasteland. Major developments which meet society’s new needs (including transport systems and renewable energy sources) may in fact comprise landscape planning. Such activities are usually subjected to an environmental impact assessment. In these cases, the relevance threshold of impact studies is reached.
