On 14th January 2018, a panel of experts was unveiled by the government to investigate and report on why housing with planning permission hasn't been built.

Originally announced at the Autumn Budget 2017, and set up by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG), the independent review intends to understand why hundreds of thousands of homes have not been built in high demand areas despite planning permission having been granted.

Sir Oliver Letwin, Chairman of the Review Panel, said:
