However, in relation to computers, the [https://stats.oecd.org/glossary/ glossary of statistical terms], published by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), defines hardware as: ‘…the computer itself (central processing unit, CPU), as well as to all peripheral input and output devices, such as monitors, disks, tape consoles, printers, plotters, digitizers, scanners etc.’ This is as opposed to ‘software’ which refers to the programs, data and other information that tell a computer about how it should work.&lt;br /&gt;
