&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;New page&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div&gt;The Concept and Developed Design Quality Best Practice Self-Assessment Tool, published by the Chartered Quality Institute (CQI) Construction Special Interest Group (ConSIG) in 2021 and updated in 2022, defines a gateway as: ‘A point in a project were the team reviews progress against plan before progressing to the next stage. Often a gateway is subject to external approval by Client/Owner management team and stakeholders. Often called Stage Gates or Milestones around the world.’&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
It defines gateway actions as: ‘Outstanding actions, agreed at the completion of the prior project stage, that must be completed in the current project stage. i.e. risks carried forward.’&lt;br /&gt;
