The University of Oxford Equality and Diversity Unit, [https://edu.admin.ox.ac.uk/support-resources-and-glossary Training, resources and glossary] [accessed February 2020], defines dual role as a person who: ‘…occasionally wears clothing and/or makeup not traditionally associated with the sex they were assigned at birth. Generally dual role people do not wish to transition and do not experience gender dysphoria. Historically the terms transvestite and cross-dresser were used to describe dual role people and some people may still use these terms for themselves, although other dual role people may see them as derogratory.’
