Principally, they include the coastal managers from maritime local authorities, port authorities and the Environment Agency. Other interested organisations, such as Natural England and English Heritage, will also be members. There are seven strategic coastal groups in England, and they provide a forum for showcasing local initiatives and for strategic coastal management, principally by the Environment Agency developing shoreline management plans (SMPs)’.
