Retrospective applications for a building permit can be granted if there is an urgent requirement to continue with the works before an inspector can attend. Documentary evidence of the work (e.g. photographs, videos, etc.), will usually be required.&lt;br /&gt;

If there is a significant change in the construction project, the building department should be consulted before this takes place since the permit is granted for a specific version of the project, and if approval is not given for the change it may be difficult to pass the final inspection upon completion.&lt;br /&gt;
