	3D CAD refers to computer-aided design (CAD) that uses digital technology to produce 3 dimensional (2D) or volumetric models of built assets, elements or products. The advantages of 3D CAD drawings over 2D CAD lie in the ability to digitally model the building three dimensionally, in a similar way to a physical model, giving a more holistic or real sense of the object as well as any required information. It can also be used to extract standard conventional drawings such as plans, sections and elevations as well as perspectives and orthogonal views.
