Who can be the Principal Designer?
The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 came into force on 6 April 2015.
The CDM Co-ordinator role was replaced (with the exception of certain transitional arrangements) by the Principal Designer. One of the current hot topics is who can be the Principal Designer? Can the Principal Designer still be the same CDM Co-ordinator that has always been used? Must the Principal Designer now be the lead designer?
Please follow the link to a short vodcast (8 mins) that explains the statutory requirements that a prospective appointee must satisfy to be appointed as the Principal Designer.
The vodcast will be especially useful for clients who are getting to grips with who they are allowed to appoint as Principal Designer; and also for consultants and contractors who would like to understand what are the minimum requirements for becoming the Principal Designer.
